Welcome to the Sardine Rune Association
SAVE OUR SHOAL
Every year, millions of sardines leave the area around the southern Cape coast, and journey 1,000km along South Africa’s Wild Coast to KwaZulu-Natal waters. As this unimaginably vast shoal makes its way, predators like sharks, dolphins, seals, gannets and humans alike gather for this short-lived feeding frenzy. All of which is natural and, as far as anyone knows, has been happening forever.
